Few people can deny the excitement and extreme rush of a live motorsport event. For years the popularity of motorsports has continued to gain ground at a rapid pace. This should come as no surprise seeing as it is the fastest sport around. One of the pinnacles of the racing world is the ruthless race known as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This annual event is an endurance race held in Le Mans, France, throughout the Circuit de la Sarthe, an 8-mile course that is mainly made up of public roads of the town. The first Le Mans race was held in 1923 and has been consistently run almost every year in June since its inception.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is considered to be one of the three great races in motorsports, along with the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix. The unique part of this race is that the cars are driven around the course throughout a full 24-hour day. The 24 Hours of Le Mans tests the stamina and resilience of each driver. It is not always the fastest car that wins, but the most focused driver. The race draws about 200,000 spectators to Le Mans every year to watch the race in person, while an additional 228 million people tune in worldwide from their households to watch the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The key to victory is simple yet so very difficult to accomplish. The winner at the end of the 24 hours of Le Mans is the driver with the most miles completed.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is open to all different types and classes of cars and usually features about 50 entries. Because of the huge mental and physical strains that the 24 Hours of Le Mans race puts upon a driver, they often rotate between three drivers per car. Up until the 1970's only two drivers were allowed to each car, but because of the demands the three-driver method has become the standard amongst racing teams.

Yet the most prestigious class of auto racing recognized by the world governing body of motorsports, FIA, is Formula One racing, which has reached catastrophic heights in popularity around the world. The drivers in Formula One are considered to be the best in the world and are recognized as icons everywhere they race.

For the 2008 season, Bridgestone Motorsport has become the official tire of the Formula One circuit. Bridgestone Motorsport will now supply the only tire used by the drivers. In doing so, Bridgestone tires are now the only tire used in the elite of all racing leagues, and the world's greatest drivers. Formula One cars and the parts that they use have a gigantic effect on the type of cars that are raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, because they are both mainly European. Now that Bridgestone Motorsports supplies the only tires to these cars, it could mean that these tires will be racing around the streets of France during the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

There is no other race like the 24 Hours of Le Mans that tests the endurance of world-class drivers. The 24 Hours of Le Mans race requires the best drivers and the best parts for each individual car. When looking for elite tires, one would have to look to the elite drivers in Formula One, and the only tires that they use are from Bridgestone Motorsports.
